Requirements
A Vehicle Tracker is installed in the machine
Engine time and/or production hours are configured in the installation
The machine is sending signals to the system
Features / Overview
Engine time
Engine time shows how long the machine has been running.
How engine time is calculated depends on which signal is used in the installation. When the mobile app is used for installation, Digital Input 1 (DIN1) on the Vehicle Tracker is always used to register engine time.
Production hours
Production hours show the time when the machine has been in production.
When the mobile app is used for installation, Digital Input 2 (DIN2) on the Vehicle Tracker is always used to register production hours.
Idle hours
Idle hours show the time when the machine is running without being in production.
Idle hours are calculated as:
Engine time - Production hours = Idle hours
Idle hours are calculated and shown only when both engine time and production hours are registered for the machine.
Why can the times differ?
The time values are affected by how the machine is installed and which signals are used.
For example, if engine time is based on the ignition signal, time is registered as long as the ignition is switched on. This does not always mean that the machine is being used or actively working.
This is especially common for electric forklifts, where the ignition can be switched on even when the machine is stationary.
To get engine time that is as accurate as possible, we recommend connecting the Vehicle Tracker to the machine's engine signal instead of the ignition signal.
Tips!
Engine time does not always equal actual usage.
Production hours often give a more accurate picture of when the machine is working.
Idle hours can be used to identify inefficient use.
Check the installation and signal selection if the time values seem unreasonable.
