User manual - Trip analysis

Use Trip analysis in Fleet to follow up utilization, vehicle use, consumption, CO2 and economy for several vehicles at once.

Written by Tim Norstedt

Common uses

Use Trip analysis when you want to follow up overall data for several vehicles at once.

You can, for example, use the view to:

  • follow the number of trips, work distance and travel time

  • follow total cost, fuel cost, fixed cost and cost per 10 km

  • follow consumption and CO2 and see how CO2 is calculated

  • see trends over time

  • review several vehicles in the same report

  • find vehicles above or below the normal level

  • compare data between vehicles, models, cost centers or organizations

  • export data for further analysis or reporting

Use Trip details in Track and trace when you instead need to review trips for a specific vehicle.

Prerequisites

To use Trip analysis, you need to:

  • be logged in to Fleet on the web

  • have access to Insights

  • have vehicle data for the period you want to review

Which information is shown can depend on how your Fleet solution is set up and which data is available for your vehicles.

Get started

  1. Log in to Fleet on the web.

  2. Go to Insights.

  3. Open the Trip analysis tab.

  4. Select month and year for the data you want to analyze.

  5. Select whether you want to look at Vehicle use, Consumption & Co2 or Economy.

  6. Select the data point or chart you want to look at more closely.

  7. When you have opened a data point, the detail view is shown, where you can continue with Per vehicle or Over time.

What you can do in Trip analysis

Review vehicle use

Use Vehicle use when you want to understand how the vehicles are used in the selected period.

You can follow:

  • Number of trips

  • Work distance

  • Travel time

In the overview, each data point is shown as a chart with summary values. Select a chart when you want to open more detailed information.

Follow the economy

Use Economy when you want to follow up costs related to vehicle use.

You can follow:

  • Total cost

  • Fuel cost

  • Fixed cost

  • Cost/10km

Select an economy chart when you want to review the cost data in more detail.

Follow consumption and CO2

Use Consumption & Co2 when you want to follow up the vehicles' fuel consumption and emissions.

Open a chart under Consumption & Co2 and click CO₂ factors in the top right corner of the detail view. There you can see how CO2 is calculated and which factors are used for each fuel type.

Read more about the calculation in User manual - Environmental report.

Open the detail view

When you want to review the data more closely, you can open the detail view by selecting a chart or data area in the overview.

In the detail view, you can switch between Per vehicle and Over time.

Per vehicle shows all vehicles in the report. Here you can also see vehicles that stand out by being above or below the normal level.

Over time shows the selected data point over time. Use it when you want to see trends between months or other time intervals.

Compare data

Select Over time in the detail view and click Compare mode in the top right corner.

Use Compare mode when you want to break down the analysis from a specific perspective.

You can compare by:

  • Vehicles

  • Models

  • Cost centers

  • Organizations

Export data

When you need to work with the information outside Fleet, you can export the report to Excel.

  1. Select Export to.

  2. Select Excel.

  3. When you are asked whether you want to export the data, select Yes to export or No to cancel.

Tips!

  • Start with Vehicle use if you want to understand how the vehicles are used.

  • Start with Economy if you want to follow up costs.

  • Open a chart to get to the detail view.

  • Use Per vehicle when you want to find vehicles that stand out.

  • Use Over time when you want to see trends between periods.

  • Use Compare mode when you want to see differences between vehicles, models, cost centers or organizations.

  • Check the period and selection if the figures are not what you expect.

  • Use Trip details when you need to review trips for a specific vehicle.
