Common use cases
Tags help you label and group machines and places in Machines.
You can use tags to filter, search and select the right objects faster, for example when working with reports.
One example is to create a tag for a customer and connect it to all machines located at that customer. This makes it easy to filter the machines or select them when creating a usage report.
Requirements
You have access to Machines.
There are machines or places that you want to label with tags.
You can edit the machine or place where you want to add or remove a tag.
Get started
You can add tags in several ways:
when you create a machine or place
directly in the table for machines or places
in the detail view for a machine or place
Previously used tags are saved automatically and shown as suggestions the next time you add a tag.
What you can do with tags
Label and group machines and places
Use tags to group machines and places in a way that fits your work.
For example, you can create tags for customers, projects, regions or other groups that you want to follow up.
Filter and find the right objects
After you have added tags, you can use them to filter the right machines or places.
This makes it easier to find the information you want to work with, especially if you have many machines or several places.
Use tags in reports
Tags can help you select the right machines when you create reports.
For example, if you have tagged all machines at a customer, you can quickly select those machines in a usage report.
Add a tag
You can add a tag when you create a machine or place.
You can also add a tag in the table for machines or places by clicking the plus icon for tags.
In the detail view, you can enter edit mode with the pencil icon and add tags there.
Remove a tag
You can remove a tag from a machine or place in the table or in the detail view.
In the table, hover over the tag and click the cross that appears.
In the detail view, enter edit mode with the pencil icon and click the cross next to the tag you want to remove.
A tag disappears automatically from the system if it is no longer connected to any machine or place.
Tips!
Use clear tag names that are easy to understand later.
Avoid several almost identical tags for the same thing.
Check which machines or places a tag is connected to before removing it.
If a tag is no longer shown, it may be because it is not connected to any machine or place.
