When should I use this guide?
Use this guide when the device should collect location, engine hours from the ignition signal and production time from the production signal.
Requirements
No specific role, permission or package is required. You still need the appropriate skills to carry out the installation.
You need the Machines app, the device or its IMEI code, machine details, access to power, ignition and production signals, the standard cable, an external 3 A 125 V fuse, and the required installation skills.
The installation must be carried out by a trained installer.
How to do it
In the app
Register the machine and create a machine card
Open Fleet in the Machines app.
Select Install device.
Scan the device's QR code or enter the IMEI code under Enter IMEI code.
Check that the correct device is displayed and select Add machine data.
Enter the VIN/PIN if available. Machines then retrieves the machine's standard details automatically.
Check and complete the details, such as Internal ID, Category, Manufacturer, Model and Serial number.
Add further details if available. Current machine hours and Current production hours are optional.
Add a machine image or select Continue without a machine image.
Review the details and select Confirm.
Select I have the required skills, start installation.
If you select I will do this later, the machine is shown under Ongoing installation. Open the machine and select Install and verify the device when you want to continue.
If you select Skip guide, Change settings or I will verify later, the device is placed under Ongoing installation. The installation is not completed until you resume and complete the verification.
Choose how the device will be connected
On the Main switch page, select the option that matches the installation:
The device is connected after the main switch
The device is connected before the main switch
I do not have a main switch
Read the information under Cabling and installation options and select OK, I understand.
Select the configuration
Select Location, engine hours and production time.
Make sure Machine Access and the RFID option are turned off.
Select Continue.
Check that the app recommends Use the standard cable and select Continue.
Select Start the installation guide.
Connect the standard cable
Connect the red cable to the positive terminal (+) through an external 3 A, 125 V fuse.
Connect the black cable to ground (â).
Connect the yellow DIN 1 cable to ****a signal present when the engine is running, usually the ignition signal.
Connect the white/green DIN 2 cable to the production signal.
Insulate the remaining cables and check that the standard cable is connected.
Check the summary for DIN 1 â Ignition signal and DIN 2 â Production signal.
Select Verify configuration.
Verify the signals
Check the server connection, positioning quality and battery voltage.
Switch the ignition on and off so that Ignition ON and Ignition OFF are received.
Switch the production signal on and off so that Production ON and Production OFF are received.
Check that all four events have been received.
Select Mount your device when the button becomes available.
The button becomes available when the final missing event has been received.
Mount and complete
Select Mount your device.
Mount the device with the QR codes facing upwards.
Use the supplied double-sided adhesive tape.
Give the device a clear view of the sky, without obstructing materials or other devices nearby.
Select Complete.
When the confirmation is displayed, select View installed machines.
If it does not work
Check that the device has power, the standard cable is connected, DIN 1 and DIN 2 are connected to the correct signals, all four events have been received, and the device has a clear view of the sky.
If Mount your device is unavailable, at least one event is still missing.
Tips!
Use this configuration when you need both engine hours and production time.
Review the machine details before selecting Confirm.
Insulate every cable that is not used.
