When should I use this guide?

  • You need to replace a 2G Vehicle Tracker.

  • You need to replace a faulty Vehicle Tracker.

  • You want to retain the machine’s history and connect the new device to the same machine.

Prerequisites

  • You have the new Vehicle Tracker available.

  • You have installed the mobile app and are signed in.

  • The existing machine is registered in the system.

How a machine is identified for replacement

The system automatically determines whether the installation replaces an existing device or is a new installation.

For the machine to be identified as a replacement, at least one of the following must match:

  • Option A: The chassis number matches the chassis number of an existing machine.

  • Option B: The registration number matches the registration number of an existing machine.

  • Option C: Both the make and serial number match an existing machine.

The information used for matching must be entered on the existing machine.

If none of this information matches, the system will not identify the machine for replacement.

How to replace the device

In the app

  1. Tap Install device.

  2. Scan the QR code on the new device.

  3. Enter the machine details.

  4. Enter the same details that are registered for the existing machine.

  5. When the system identifies the machine, the Replace device option is displayed.

  6. Tap Yes, replace device.

  7. Check that the correct machine is displayed.

  8. Update the machine data if needed, such as the engine hours.

  9. Take a photo of the machine.

  10. Review the machine information and tap Confirm.

  11. Confirm that you have the necessary skills to perform the installation by tapping I have the skills, start installing.

  12. Install the new device by following the instructions in the installation guide.

If it does not work

  • Check that the machine details match the existing machine.

  • Check that the chassis number, registration number, or combination of make and serial number has been entered correctly.

  • Check that you scanned the correct device.

  • If the Replace device option is not displayed, the system may have identified the installation as a new installation.

Tips!

  • Always check the machine information before confirming the replacement.

  • Use the same machine details as the existing machine to ensure that the system identifies the installation as a replacement.

  • Record the machine’s engine hours before removing the old device.
