User manual - CO₂ report

See how Machines calculates and displays CO₂ emissions and estimated fuel consumption from machine usage, fuel type, and fuel consumption in litres per hour.

Common use cases

Use the CO₂ report to:

  • follow calculated CO₂ emissions and estimated fuel consumption

  • see how many machines were in use and their total usage

  • find machines with missing settings

  • download a report for selected machines

  • schedule recurring reports

Requirements

To calculate CO₂ emissions for a machine, Machines needs:

  • an Infobric Vehicle Tracker

  • registered usage data

  • a specified fuel type

  • specified fuel consumption in litres per hour

  • a specified fuel consumption type

If any information is missing, the machine appears as having a settings issue in the report.

Getting started

  1. Log in to Machines.

  2. Go to Analytics in the main menu.

  3. Select CO₂ report.

The page opens with the heading CO₂ emissions.

Choose whether to view the report Weekly or Monthly. You can also choose between Emissions and Fuel consumption (estimated).

What you can do in the CO₂ report

Follow the results for the period

The summary cards show:

  • Total emissions

  • Machines in use

  • Total usage

  • Unused machines

Select View in list on a card to filter the machine list by that result. Select Remove filter to show all machines again.

Interpret the report cells

Select Explanation – what each cell means to see how the report presents different states.

A cell can show:

  • Recorded emissions – the machine has the required settings and usage data for the period.

  • Not used – the machine did not record any usage during the period.

  • No data received – no usage data was received for the machine.

  • Waiting for data – the report is waiting for data for the selected period.

Find machines with settings issues

If one or more machines are missing information, a warning appears above the report.

  1. Select View these to filter the list.

  2. Check that the machine has a fuel type, fuel consumption in litres per hour, and a fuel consumption type.

  3. Select the fuel type in the list to open the machine details.

  4. Select Edit machine and add the missing information.

  5. Select View all to return to the complete list.

Machines estimates fuel consumption from the machine's registered usage and the fuel consumption entered in litres per hour. The daily CO₂ calculation is:

Fuel consumed × the emission factor for the fuel type

The emission factor is expressed per litre, kilogram, or kilowatt-hour depending on the fuel type. The factors come from the Swedish Energy Agency.

Download a report

  1. Select the machines to include.

  2. Select Generate report.

  3. Choose a Date range.

  4. If needed, select Include machines without data to include selected machines even when no data is available for them.

  5. If needed, select Include detailed usage per machine.

  6. Select Download report.

Schedule a report

  1. Select the machines to include.

  2. Select Generate report.

  3. Select Schedule report.

  4. Enter a Report name.

  5. Under Report frequency, select Weekly or Monthly.

  6. Add the users who should receive the report under Recipients.

  7. Schedule the report.

Weekly reports cover the previous week and are sent on Mondays. Monthly reports cover the previous month and are sent on the first day of the month.

View scheduled reports

Select My reports to view your scheduled reports.

For each report, you can see its name, frequency, report type, number of machines, and number of recipients.

Tips

  • Check the fuel type, fuel consumption in litres per hour, and fuel consumption type if a machine has a settings issue.

  • Select Include machines without data when all selected machines should appear in the downloaded report.

  • Fuel consumption is an estimate based on registered usage and the machine settings.

  • CO₂ emissions are calculated, not measured directly.
