Connect CAT machines to Infobric Machines using Machine connections

Learn how to connect CAT machines to Infobric Machines using Machine connections and which machine data can be displayed.

When should I use this guide?

Use this guide when you:

  • want to connect machine data from CAT directly to Infobric Machines

  • have enabled CAT's ISO 15143-3 API, also known as AEMP 2.0

  • have received a Client ID and client secret from CAT

The CAT integration uses the machine's existing telematics equipment. You do not need to install a separate Vehicle Tracker to collect the data through AEMP.

Prerequisites

You need to:

  • have the Owner or Administrator role in Infobric Machines

  • use the web version of Infobric Machines

  • have API access for the CAT machines you want to connect

  • have a Client ID and Client secret from Cat Digital Marketplace

Check with CAT that the machines are included in your account and that API access is active.

Connect CAT

  1. Log in to Infobric Machines.

  2. Go to Telematics → Integrate machines → Machine connections.

  3. Search for CAT or select the integration on the Inactive tab.

  4. Open the CAT integration and enter the Client ID and Client secret under Enter authentication.

  5. If you need to connect another set of credentials, select Add another authentication.

  6. Select Connect and collect data.

  7. Complete the Collect data and Complete the integration steps.

When the connection is complete, Machines starts collecting data from CAT. New machines and values normally appear within one hour after the data has been collected.

Which CAT data is displayed?

CAT provides the latest available information for each machine.

The following information can be displayed in Infobric Machines:

  • Hour meter: The latest reported value.

  • Position: The latest reported position.

  • Engine on or off: An approximate status recorded when Machines collects data.

  • Fuel used: Displayed when the machine reports the value.

  • Fuel level: Displayed when the machine reports the value.

  • Idle hours: Displayed when the machine reports the value.

The available information depends on the machine model, telematics unit and the values CAT makes available for your account.

CAT provides snapshot data

Snapshot data means that Machines receives the machine's latest known values when the data is collected. It is not a complete time series of everything that has happened.

This means that:

  • a short engine run between two data collections may be missed

  • the position shows the most recently collected location, not a complete route

  • history from before the connection was created is not collected

  • data from an interruption is not collected afterwards

If it does not work

First, check that:

  • the Client ID and client secret are correct

  • API access is active with CAT

  • the correct machines are available in the CAT account

  • the machine has been switched on and had network coverage

  • the machine model reports the information you are missing

  • you have allowed up to one hour for new machines or values to appear

If the credentials do not work, verify them with CAT. Contact Infobric Support if the credentials are correct but the integration still cannot be completed.

Tips

  • Check the API access in Cat Digital Marketplace before you start.

  • Store the Client ID and client secret securely. Do not include real credentials in screenshots or support messages.

  • Missing information may mean that the machine model does not report that value.
