Connect machines with Trackunit telematics to Infobric Machines using Machine connections

Learn how to connect machines with Trackunit telematics to Infobric Machines using Machine connections and which machine data can be displayed.

When should I use this guide?

Use this guide when you:

  • want to connect machine data from Trackunit directly to Infobric Machines

  • have machines with Trackunit telematics devices

  • have API access and authentication details for Trackunit's AEMP 2.0 service

In Infobric Machines, the provider is shown as Trackunit (Collect). The integration uses the machine's existing Trackunit device, so you do not need to install a separate Vehicle Tracker from Infobric.

Prerequisites

You need to:

  • have the Owner or Administrator role in Infobric Machines

  • use Infobric Machines on the web

  • have a Trackunit account containing the machines you want to connect

  • have an API user with a username and password

  • have the other authentication details provided by Trackunit for the connection

Machines displays the fields Client ID, Client secret, Username, Password and Scope. Check with Trackunit which values should be used for your account.

How to connect

  1. Sign in to Infobric Machines.

  2. Go to Telematics → Integrate machines → Machine connections.

  3. Search for Trackunit (Collect) or select the integration on the Inactive tab.

  4. Open the integration and enter the details from Trackunit under Add authentication:

    • Client ID

    • Client secret

    • Username

    • Password

    • Scope

  5. To connect another set of authentication details, select Add another authentication.

  6. Select Connect and collect data.

  7. Complete the Collect data and Complete integration steps.

When the connection is complete, Machines starts retrieving data from Trackunit. New machines and values normally appear within one hour after the information has been retrieved.

Which data is displayed from Trackunit?

Trackunit provides the latest available information for each machine. Machine details such as name and model are kept synchronized with Trackunit.

The following information can be displayed in Infobric Machines:

  • Operating hours: Displayed when the Trackunit device is connected to the machine's engine.

  • Position: The latest reported position.

  • Engine on or off: An approximate status that can be displayed when the Trackunit device is connected to the machine's engine.

  • Fuel used: Displayed when the machine reports the value.

  • Fuel level: Displayed when the machine reports the value.

  • Idle hours: Displayed when the machine reports the value.

A simple Trackunit tracker that is not connected to the machine's engine may only provide position.

Trackunit provides snapshot data

Snapshot data means that Machines receives the machine's latest known values when information is retrieved. It is not a complete time series of everything that has happened.

This means that:

  • a short engine run between two retrievals may be missed

  • the position is the latest retrieved location, not a complete route

  • history from before the connection was created is not imported

  • data from an interruption is not retrieved afterwards

If it does not work

First, check that:

  • the authentication details are correct

  • API access is active with Trackunit

  • the correct machines are available in the Trackunit account

  • the machine has reported data to Trackunit

  • the Trackunit device is connected to the engine if operating hours or engine status are missing

  • you have allowed up to one hour for new machines or values to appear

If the authentication details do not work, check them with Trackunit. Contact Infobric Support if the details are correct but the integration still cannot be completed.

Infobric Machines displays the information received from Trackunit. If source data is missing or incorrect, first check it in Trackunit.

Tips

  • Check how the Trackunit device is installed before expecting operating hours or engine status.

  • Keep all authentication details secure. Never include real details in screenshots or ordinary support messages.
